Yuki Sato's experience at IH

At IH San Diego, classes are divided into different levels, so you are able to learn in a class that is at the right level for you. Also, the teachers are really nice, so even people with low confidence can have a fun time learning. During class, we did listening, speaking, grammar of course, but also did things like presentations and watched movies. We didn't only learn English though, as we also learned really interesting things about other cultures and countries from our teachers and classmates. After class, we also had set activities where staff would bring us to San Diego tourism spots and to see movies. These activities were the place that we most had the chance to interact with other classmates. If you have some idea of something you'd like to do or go, they will try their best to help you. With my host family, on days off we would go to the beach, play beach volleyball or go cycling. It was a lot of fun spending free time with them. While I was in S

Two week language study  日本語は以下 At IH San Diego, you can join a class that matches your English ability. My English isn’t great, so I was a bit worried about this. But, once I realized that if I told the teacher about the things I didn’t understand, they explained everything very clearly and carefully so it was easy to understand. In class, we would usually practice communication with our teacher and classmates, watch videos, go outside and interview people, and various other things that made class fun and interesting. My classmates were from many different countries, so I was able to learn about cultures from around the world. I was able to use my time not only to learn English, but to learn about cultures around the world. In the afternoons, I would mostly join the activities that were going on at school. There are many different activities planned for the afternoon that were really fun. I was able to do things that I wouldn’t have been able to do just as a tourist, and

The end of my short study abroad experience (日本語は下) It was a short two week period, but I am really happy that I chose to study at IH San Diego.  I was able to learn things in class and do things after class at activities and in my homestay that I never would have gotten to experience in Japan. During my stay in the melting pot of cultures that is America, I was able to communicate with people from many different countries and learn many new things.  I was amazed at others who were much younger than me, yet thinking about their future and had really impressive English ability.  In class, we played games and used the textbook to try and do our best to speak English.  Answers from other students that I never would have thought of made me even more motivated. On the day that I started, a group of many Taiwanese students started as well. I was a bit worried about mixing with this group at first, but I soon found that everyone was so nice and welcoming that it was easy for me to a

Short, 4 week study abroad program in San Diego 日本語は下  ↓ ↓ International House On our first day, we take a placement test to determine our level and to find which class is the best fit for us. Our teachers speak to us very kindly and patiently. Although my English level is still fairly low, and there are many things that I wasn’t able to understand, when I would ask my teacher in class a question they would very politely teach me the answer.  Because of this, I was able to learn many new vocabulary and the meanings of new sentence structures. I learned that for the things I didn't understand, it was important to not be shy and to ask questions.  Using new language as much as possible through everyday conversation is very important. Even in just 4 weeks, I was able to improve my English. In the classroom, there are many chances to speak with students of other nationalities and to learn about their home countries. The thing that I was mos

I graduated from this school and I could learn a and experience a lot of things about English and America. And I met many friends who are friendly and wonderful. When I came to school for first day, I didn’t know what I should do, but school’s staff taught me kindly and then school’s student said me “Take your time” when I couldn’t speak English well. Whenever something happened, everyone helped me. So I could spend my time pleasantly and comfortably here. In activity, it was a very fulfilling content. I enjoyed many kinds of activities. Especially I think Surf lesson was the best thing. I could know San Diego much through activities. I found there is good weather and many beaches in San Diego. In homestay, I could spend comfortably. The dishes my host mother made were so delicious and healthy. And she has a dog and two cats. I played a lot with them. Though I had a lot of worries before I study abroad, finally I was supported by many people who are host family and school

It was my first time to study abroad to US. I have studied for one month in IH San Diego. When class first began, I was very concerned.  But I was able to experience so much. I made a lot of friends.  My friends and my teacher s were very friendly and kind. They helped me every day. And also I felt encouraged and comfortable because there was a Japanese staff member at IH San Diego. It has been a long time since I studied English last time. But it was very fun. I hung out with my friends after school every day. We went to sightseeing, for example to LA and so on… I took a part in school activities many times. We went to Sea World, Disneyland, and the San Diego zoo…so many places! The staff asked me to pick any places where I want to go, so I could visit various places. Especially my favorite place is mission beach.  Because there is very good sightseeing. It was the best scene I have ever seen. I recommend Coronado island too. There is a beautiful ocean view and wonderful

When I came to school for the first day, I was nervous. But my classmates who are from Russia, Brazil, ltaly and other countries were very friendly and kind! For example a classmate said me “Your grammar is good! So you can have brave to speak English more!” Also if I can’t solve a question, teachers teach me politely! And I really appreciate to my host mother especially when I went to school at the first time, she was worried about me to attend class. Even she was calling to school in order to confirm whether  I could go or not. On the weekend she took me to the Costco to buy a lot of nuts. 留学は行きたいと思ったときに、いけるうちにいったほうが絶対にいい !
